Our story

AskBigQuestions officially launched on Northwestern University’s campus in winter 2008.  Eager to shake up the current campus zeitgeist the five initial members worked day and night to cultivate a conversing-culture through their BIG questions campaign.  An offshoot of the university Hillel, AskBigQuestions quickly garnered the attention of both students and professors.  Yet, the founding members still believed there was something missing: a wealth of sponsors to draw on the diversity of the university population.  In the fall of 2008 AskBigQuestions gained additional support from the campus Philosophy Department as well as the Northwestern University Provost.  Departments, professors and student groups wanted to get involved.  Becoming an independent student group, AskBigQuestions has worked to gain partnership with many academic departments, and co-curricular initiatives on campus.  With wide and deep support, AskBigQuestions weaves together the fabric of the campus culture.

AskBigQuestions is in the process of becoming a not-for-profit institution.  As a non-profit we hope to reach out beyond the Northwestern community and take our mission—meaningful conversation—across the country.

Perhaps AskBigQuestions is just waiting to be launched at YOUR school.
